Electricity Tariff Optimisation
Selecting the most cost effective electricity contract requires a thorough understanding of the tariffs available and your electricity demand profile, both current and future. Savings of 10% or more are achievable by carefully matching your needs with the most appropriate profile.
The cost of electricity
Electricity tariffs are complex and reflect the cost of supply. All tariffs deliver time-of-day related messages. For example, night tariffs are cheaper than daytime tariffs and winter days are more expensive than summer days in cold countries, the reverse is the case in hot weather countries.
A typical tariff also includes the cost of distribution, both national and local. In addition, there are peak demand and capacity charges. A myriad of tariff structures are published by electricity suppliers and the onus is on the user to select the most cost effective option.
How can CMR help?
We adopt a 3 step process:
- We check your historic invoices for any supplier billing errors
- We review your electricity usage profiles and assess the opportunity for straightforward tariff swaps that yield immediate savings with no operational change required.
- We evaluate the options and benefits of changing shift patterns or operating patterns of certain equipment, to reduce maximum demand, or avoid peak period and capacity charges.
We prioritise strategy adoption and also check savings made post tariff change and plan a future re-assessment review.
